The cost of living in france

In terms of popularity, France is listed as one of the top destinations for international students. Home to some of the world’s best universities, students are also drawn to France as they can practice or improve their French, visit famous museums and experience the typical “à la française” lifestyle.
One major benefit which students studying in France will enjoy is the country's fee system.
Here is some statistique showing  the average cost living in france :
  • Housing :
Just like French students, international students are eligible to apply for housing assistance under a system set up to deal with the relatively high cost of housing in France.

Assistance amounts are computed case by case, based on the rental amount and the student's resources. The benefit is not automatic or assured.

If you intend to apply for student housing assistance, make sure meet the following conditions. You must:
    1. Be in possession of your lodgings and can provide your address and the amount of your rent.
    2. Be enrolled in the mandatory student health insurance plan.
    3. Have a bank account in France, as housing assistance is deposited directly into beneficiaries' bank accounts.

    The "CLE" (Student Rent Deposit):

The Clé (caution locative étudiante) is a government scheme allowing students without guarantors to facilitate their access to a housing. The Clé is managed by the Crous. It is now available in all academies, except in French overseas departments ("Outre-Mer", or DOM).

The can be accessed by students:

    * with income but without bank, family or friend guarantor

    * who wish to reside in France for their studies.

    * under 28 on September 1st of the year of signing of the rent contract

    * over 28 on September 1st of the year of signing of the rent contract if doctoral student or post-doctoral student of foreign nationality.
